The tequila category offers consumers a wide range of choices, yet few can match the remarkable lineup from Casa Azul Orgánico Tequila. Crafted from certified organic agave, Casa Azul Orgánico tequilas honor tradition while bringing the purest expression of agave possible. With less than 1% of all tequilas achieving the rigorous process to gain organic certification, Casa Azul proudly distinguishes itself from the rest in the competitive premium market.
From the beginning, the Casa Azul team was committed to a no-compromise approach. Their vision extended beyond simply creating a brand—it was about honoring the stewards of the land. For them, organic certification was not just brand marketing, but a guiding principle. After all, when you care for the land, it rewards you for generations to come.
Casa Azul partnered with the Montes Family, third-generation farmers distillers in the Jalisco Lowlands, to create their spirit. A Casa Azul tequila starts with organic Blue Weber Agave cultivated on a single estate in the region’s mineral-rich volcanic soil.
By owning the fields and distilling on-site, Casa Azul can control every step of the process, allowing the bold character and depth that define its tequilas to develop.
“We wanted to create a tequila that reflected the purity of the agave and the land it comes from—farmed without chemicals, additives, or shortcuts,” says Jorge Licano, Chief Marketing Officer for Casa Azul Spirits. “If we were going to ask people to drink better, we had to make better from the ground up.”
The entire process of making the tequila meets strict USDA organic standards from harvest to bottle. Starting with the soil and agave plants, no synthetic pesticides or herbicides are ever used. “We rely on natural soil health, biodiversity, and time to protect and nourish the plants,” explains Jorge. “The agave takes longer to mature, but it develops richer sugars and deeper character.”
Nothing is added after distillation either, meaning the tequila is crafted with only three ingredients: organic agave, yeast, and water. All of this ensures the most complex, vibrant flavor possible in a tequila.
Casa Azul offers three expressions, an agave-forward Blanco, a rich, velvety Reposado that’s been aged for 4 to 6 months in American oak bourbon casks, and the ultimate experience, the Añejo aged for 15 or more months in bourbon casks.
With an organic tequila, you taste more of the terroir, the minerality of the volcanic soil, and the natural sweetness of fully mature, pure agave. Tequila lovers will appreciate the bright, layered and nuanced flavor profile. For bartenders, the key thing to know about an organic tequila is that there is more flavor and that keeps the tequila at the forefront of any cocktail.
Jorge says of the Casa Azul organic tequila, “Once you taste the difference, there’s no un-tasting it, and no reason to ever make tequila any other way.”
